What are the 3 conditions for holding a license ( NZ vs overseas )

Permit to fly a specific type of aircraft. Requires:
- Pilot License for category
- Conversion instruction flight
- Tubrine engine, written basic turbine exam
- Type compentency with instructor
> 5,700kg MCTOW
- techinical training
- written exam on normal,non-normal and emergency operations
Logbook - what types of 2 flight need to be recorded?
Every flight, actual and syntheic.
Note: This is not ‘required’, but it is required to count toward currency and competency.
Logbook - what needs to be recorded a part of a flight review?
- Purpose of the flight
- Date of flight
- expiry date of the flight exam
- name, client number and signiture of the examiner/instructor

In the log book, what are the 4 type of roles? (e.g PIC)
- PIC
- PICUS ( PIC under supervision )
- Co-Pilot

In the logbook, what needs to be recorded for an IFR Flight?
Over and above normal information
number and type of instrutment approaches.
When recording flights in the logbook, what are the allowable methods of recording and correction?
Recording
* Indelable Ink
* A computer generated log record, inserted permantly
* In both cases the total hours must be tallied and signed per page.
Corrections
* entry to be crossed out.
* New infomration to be recorded alongside or on a line below
Logbook - if a series of flights is done on a single day how is it to be recorded?
If purpose of flights is the same, it needs to record the total flight time and all intermediate areodromes.
Note: This is optional. Key point is that all aerodromes should be recorded.
How long must a pilot hold the logbook
Permantly while they have their license.
If the license is revoked, at least 12 months.
By when must a flight be recorded in a logbook?
- 7 days - national flight
- 14 days - international flight
- 48 hours - if operating away from base.
Who is allowed to use the controls in flight?
The controls may only be operated by:
* Licensed pilot
* dual instruction
* Student pilot - solo
What are the conditions for a Solo pilot to fly?
Generally instructed in:
* aircraft prep
* Engine failure
* Steep turns/stalls etc.
Signing off to go solo:
* Flight instructor
* If have not recieved dual instruction in last 5 hours of flight, only Cat A or Cat B
* Cross country requires completion of all written exams
* First solo requires Cat A or Cat B
Instructor must monitor all solo flights
What are the 5 requirements to get issued a license
- At least 17 years of age
- Class 2 Medial or DL9
- 50 hours ( 40 for no cross country )
- Written Exams
- Flight test

* 12 months
* For a holder over 40 and SINGLE PILOT carrying passengers - 6 months

* Over 40yo - 24 months

What are the 12 limitations of a DL9?
- < 2,730kg MCTOW
- pressurised aircraft > 25,000 ft
- Operating outside of NZ ( unless forign allows )
- IFR
- Landing at a controlled aerodrome requires radio contact at all times… UNLESS colour blind test has been performed.
- Ag
- Banner < 500 ft
- Glider Tow < 500 ft ( unless authorised by director or a gliding club )
- Parachute drop < 10,000ft
- Aerobatics
- Carrying more than 5 passengers
- Night > 25nm from lit aerodrome.
