Peritoneum and upper abdomen viscera Flashcards
Peritoneal cavity
A potential space in the peritoneal sac
Small amount of serous fluid
Allows organs to move freely
Greater sac is area outside omental bursa
Lesser sac is the area inside the omental bursa
COMMUNICATE BETWEEN OMENTAL FORAMEN
Greater omentum
Attaches to greater curvature of the stomach and transverse colon
Drapes over the small intestine
4 layers of peritoneum
Walls off infection and inflammation–can create adhesions of scar tissue – can pitch off digestive flow
Lesser omentum
Attaches to lesser curvature of the stomach and duodenum
Hepatogastric ligament connects liver to stomach
Hepatoduodenal ligament connect liver to duodenum
-contain portal triad
Portal triad
Hepatic artery
Hepatic portal vein
Bile duct
Mesentery proper
Anchors small intestine to posterior abdominal wall
Runs diagonally from duodenojejunal Jxn to ilocecal Jxn
-15-20 cm
Duodenum anchored by suspensory ligament of treitz
Suspensory ligament of duodenum
Duodenum anchored by suspensory ligament of treitz
Fibromuscular ligament of right crus of diaphragm
Crosses over left crus
Holds distal duodenum in place
Prevents sagging
Mesocolon
Anchors transverse colon to posterior abdominal wall
Ascending and descending colon have no Mesentery
Sigmoid=sigmoid mesocolon
Rectum= rectal mesocolon
Greater sac
Made by greater omentum
Supra colic sac
Infra colic sac
Lesser sac is split from these by transverse mesocolon
Round ligament of liver
Used to be Obliterated umbilical vein
Coronary ligament
Reflection of peritoneum of the bare area
Bare area = upper posterior portion of the liver
Attaches liver to inferior diaphragm
Peritoneal pouches
Rectovesical pouch
Hepatorenal recess
Hepatorenal pouch
Pouch of Morrison
Liver, right kidney, colon, duodenum
Lowest part of cavity when laying down
Rectovesical pouch
Recto uterine pouch
Between rectum and bladder
Another low point of peritoneal cavity
Females- rectouterine pouch and vesicouterine pouch
Major pancreatic papillae
Bile duct and the main pancreatic duct connect
Hepatopancreatic ampulla forms
Juice enters at descending part of duodenum
Major marker for the fore gut… Everything after is mid gut
Accessory pancreatic duct will go to minor duodenal papillae
-2 cm superior to major papilla
Accessory organs
Liver
Gallbladder
Spleen
Pancreas
