Supervisors’ Responsibilities for EAP?
- First and second level supervisors will familiarize themselves with their subordinates and routinely observe their demeanor, appearance, and conduct.
- Supervisors will remain alert for indications of behavioral changes or stressors that may affect a Department member’s performance.
- When supervisors perceive or determine that a Department member has problems or is causing problems, the supervisor will assess the situation and take appropriate action in accordance with this general order and the other policies and procedures of the Department, including referral to the City Employee Assistance Program, informal counseling by a supervisor, and other remedial actions. Quarterly Threshold Criteria for EAP
- Administrative Complaints – Two or more;
- Citizen Complaints – Two or more;
- Use of Force incidents – Five or more;
- Shooting incidents (including accidental discharge) – Two or more;
- Traffic Accidents – Two or more preventable;
- Use of excessive personal leave or AWOP days must be reported to the Internal Affairs Division by the employees supervisor if a pattern has been identified
- Job Related Injuries - Two or more.
Annual Report Threshold Criteria for EAP
- Overall Threshold- Eleven or more incidents. The incident types that will be totaled are complaints, use of force incidents, shooting incidents (including accidental discharge) and preventable accidents.
- Use of excessive personal leave or AWOP days – if pattern identified – five or more separate sick day events or two or more separate AWOP events; or
