Explain internal recruitment
It is when a vacancy is filled by an existing employee
Advantages of internal recruitment
(i)save time and money
(ii)the business already know that person
(iii)That people know business’s ways of working
Disadvantages of internal recruitment
(i)No new skills and experience
(ii)Jealousy among workers
Explain external recruitment
It is when a vacancy is filled by someone who is new to the business
Explain selection
(i)Applicants who are shortlisted will be interviewed by the h.r manager
(ii)Call up references provided by Applicant
(iii)interview allow manager to assess:
-Applicant’s ability to do the job
-Personal qualities of Applicant
-Character and personality of Applicant
Explain contract of employment
A legal agreement between the employer and the employee listing rights and responsibilities of workers. It will include:
-Hours of work
-Rate of pay and other benefits
-Holiday entitlement
Advantages to employers of part-time employment
(i)more flexible hours of work
(ii)Easier to akin employees just to work on busy times

Explain disadvantage to employer of part-time employment
(i)worker are less likely to be trained
(ii)take longer to recruit more than one worker

Explain training
-It is important to a business
-it will improve worker’s skills and knowledge and help business be more effective and productive
Explain the type of training
- Induction training:An introduction given to a new employee explaining the firm’s activities customs,procedures and introducing them to their fellow workers
Advantage of induction training
(i)Help new employees to settle into their job quickly
(ii)May be legal requirement to give health and safety training before the start of work
(iii)Less likely to make mistakes
Disadvantage of induction training
(i)Time-consuming
(ii)Wages still have to be paid during training
(iii)Delays the state of the employee starting the job
- On the job training
It occurs by watching a more experienced worker doing the job
Advantage of on the job training
(i)It ensures there is some production from the worker while training
(ii)usually cost less
(iii)it is training to the specific needs of the business
Disadvantage of on the job training
(i)The trainer will lose some production time
(ii)bad habit from trainer may be passed onto the trainee
(iii)May be not be recognised as training qualification outside the business
- Off the job training
It involves trained away from the workplace
Advantage of off the job training
(i)a borad range of skills can be taught using these techniques
(ii)Employees become multi-skilled
Disadvantage of off the job training
(i)high cost
(ii)no work done but still wages are paid
(iii)Employees can leave to find better job
Reason to reduce the number of employees of business
(i)Introduction of automation
(ii)Failling demand for their products
(iii)Factory/shop/office closure
Explain how the ways we can downsize the workfore
(i)Dismissal:where the workers is told to leave their job due to their unsatisfactory work or behaviour
(ii)Redundancy:when the employee is no longer needed and lose their work
