Chronic inspiratory stridor that begins in the neonatal period and worse in supine position.
Laryngomalacia (collapse of supraglottic structures during inspiration)
Exudative effusion with high triglycerides and lymphocytic predominance:
Chylothorax (disrupted lymphatic flow through thoracic duct)
Rx for cat bites:
amoxicillin/clavulanate. Prophylaxis against Pasteurella multocida (gram neg coccobacilli)
Is breast milk jaundice conjugated or unconjugated bili?
Unconjugated
Infant with IUGR, hepatosplenomegaly, jaundice, and maculopapular rash on buttocks and feet that desquamates.
Congenital Syphilis. May also present with rhinorrhea and abnormal long bone radiographs
When is rotavirus vaccine administered?
at 2-8 mo old
Alternative to stimulant meds for ADHD
Atomexatine (SNRI) is first line alternative.
Second line = a2AR agonists (clonidine, guanfacine) and antidepressants (bupropion and TCA)
Rx for chlamydial conjunctivitis:
PO macrolide (erythromycin)
Rx for cyclical vomiting syndrome:
Sumatriptan. It is considered a type of mesenteric migraine. Generally about 2/3 children with CVS have spontaneous resolution in 5-10 years.
small for gestational age infant with cataracts, PDA, and sensorineural hearing loss:
congenital rubella.
