A
- most common eye tumor of children
- mutation in RB1, a tumor repressor
- 60% autosomal dominant, 40% sporadic
- good prognosis with treatment

What is a blastoma?
A
A malignancy of precursor (blast) cells
“small round blue cell tumor”

Neuroblastoma
A
- most common extracranial tumor
- peak incidence <2 yrs
- can independently regress or mature
- tend to arise in places with a lot of neural tissue

What are two important prognostic factors in neuroblastoma?
A
- Age <1 yr at diagnosis
2. N-myc amplification = bad prognosis

What is the progression of neuroblastoma?
A
neuroblastoma -> ganglioneuroblastoma -> ganglioneuroma
