How to treat a patient that is STABLE with dehydration?
Rehydrate orally
When to consider IV bolus for pediatric dehydration?
Tachycardia
Prolonged CFT
Decreased BP
IV bolus
20 ml/kg NS or LR
What is indicated for moderate to severe dehydration?
Electrolytes
-note that it does not change the initial bolus fluid
When would you give a second bolus to a pediatric dehydration patient?
After you’ve given a bolus and reassessed and there is still CV instability
