Absence of conflict and war which leads to harmony
What is justice?
Bringing about what is right and fair according to the law or making up for a wrong that has been committed

What is a protest?
An expression of disapproval in public
What is a violent protest?example?
Harming others to express disapproval e.g 2011 London riots
What is a peaceful protest?example?
Expression of disapproval using non violent means e.g ,the civil rights movement with MLK
What is terrorism? Example?
Unlawful use of violence against innocent people to achieve a political goal e.g 9/11, Manchester arena bombing
What does Christianity teach about terrorism?

What are nuclear weapons?examples?
Weapons that work by a nuclear reaction, devastate large areas and kill lots e.g tsar bomb, Hiroshima 1945
What are weapons of mass destruction?examples?
Weapons that kill large numbers of people e.g chemical weapons (use chemicals to burn) biological weapons (weapons that gave living organisms that can lead to disease and death)
Why are Christian’s against the use of weapons of mass destruction?
“Blessed are the peacemakers”
“Thou shall not kill”
Sanctity of life
However could act as a deterrent from war

Hatred is a poison

What is a just war?
A war that meets internationally accepted criteria in fairness
What are the 6 conditions for a just war?
-Must be fought for a just cause
-Must be declared by the correct authority
-must have just intention
-must be last resort
-must have good chance of success
-must be proportional
What are the three rules of a just war?
-fought by just means
-only appropriate force should be used
-internationally agreed conventions obeyed
What is a holy war? Examples?
A war fought for a religious cause, authorised by a religious leader, e.g the crusades

The belief that toy should not take part in war or any violence

Someone who works to establish peace in the world

Some think violence conflicts with Jesus’ teachings, some believe in just war theory
