A way for Christian’s to show love and honour God
Why do Christian’s worship?
To thank God
To atone for sins
To ask for a prayer to be answered
To deepen their relationship with God
What are the different forms of worship?
Liturgical- set structure
Non-liturgical- doesn’t follow set structure
Informal- type of non liturgical worship
Private- worshipping in your own home
What is a set prayer?
A prayer which is used more than once and written down
What is an informal prayer?
A prayer made up by the individual
What are sacraments?
Holy rituals in which Christian’s believe they receive a special gift of grace
Catholics believe there are 7 sacraments, what are the only two Protestants believe there are?
Baptism , holy communion
Why do people become baptised?
Become a member of the church and community
Receive Gods grace
Cleanse sin
Enter new life with Jesus
What is holy communion/eucharist?
A sacrement that uses bread and wine to celebrate the sacrifice of Jesus on the cross and his resurrection
What is the impact of Holy communion on the wider society?
Money collected during service
Remember the starving when breaking bread
Encourages them to help others
How is holy communion normally celebrated?
Bread and wine consumed

What is one main difference about how holy communion is celebrated in different churches?
Protestant church, the bread and wine are symbolic, in catholic and orthodox, the bread and wine is the body and blood of Christ
What is pilgrimage and why do people do it?
A journey made by a believer to a holy site- they do it to grow closer to God, to strengthen their fait, to be forgiven for sins, and seek a cure for illness
What is the story of Lourdes?
Virgin Mary appeared to a girl called Bernadette
Mary told her to dig and a spring of water appeared
Now pilgrims believe the water has healing properties
