Insight learning
Athlete uses their own sporting knowledge to overcome a problem. Looks at the situation as a whole.
Benefits: Insight learning
Improves athletes cognitive processes and increases motivation.
Operant conditioning
Trial and error learning. Attempts to strengthen the stimulus-response bond with positive and negative reinforcement and punishment.
Social learning theory/observational learning
Performers learn by watching role models and copying their behaviour. Bandura’s ARMM.

Inter-psychological learning - Gaining knowledge from an MKO (more knowledgeable other).
Intra-psychological learning - Using learnt information to construct ideas and add onto existing information.
