What is a pathologist?
A doctor who studies and diagnoses disease in humans
What is an autopsy?
A standard direction to find the cause of death
What is the primary cause of death?
The immediate cause of death
What is sharp force trauma?
Trauma caused by knives, axes, ice picks, etc.
What is blunt force trauma?
Trauma caused by baseball bats, bricks, Lagos, etc.
What is chemical trauma?
Trauma caused by chemicals
What is hypothermia?
Excessive exposure to the cold
What is hyperthermia?
Excessive exposure to heat
What are forensic pathologists?
Medical doctors that specialise in forensics
What is a forensic pathologists main goal?
To answer all questions that arise from a suspicious death.
What does external examination entail?
Clothing, identification, tanarochronology, stage of putrification.
Why may a body be exhumed?
Paternity testing and insurance discrepancies.
When is an event considered a mass disaster?
When there is more than 12 deaths.
What are the classes of wounds? (6)
Abrasions, contusions, lacerations, blunt injuries, incised wounds and gunshot wounds
