What is paint?
A suspension of pigments and additives intended to colour and protect a surface.
What is pigment?
A fine powder that is insoluble in its parent medium.
What is the binder/vehicle?
The portion that allows paint to disperse evenly.
What are the 3 types of paint?
Architectural paints, product coatings and special-purpose coatings
What are Th r 4 stages of automotive paint?
Pretreatment, primer, colour coat and clear coat
Where should paint samples be taken form?
Close to but not from the damaged area
What is the primary reason for paint analysis?
To determine its chemical composition.

I’m vehicle related crimes.

Physical match, colour and texture and chemical analysis.
