pc: dry mouth (few months), gritty sensation in eyes.

oe: diffuse swelling of parotid gland. no evidence of facial nerve palsy.

indicative of:

A

Sjogren’s syndrome

autoimmune

characterised by:
- parotid enlargement
- xerostomia
- keratoconjunctivitis sicca

typical presentation
- bilateral , nontender enlargement of gland is usual

histologically
- lymphocytic infiltrate in acinar units
- epimyoepithelial islands surrounded by lymphoid stroma

treatment
- supportive
