Parts of the Heart Flashcards
Superior Vena Cava
Blood vessel that delivers deoxygenated blood from the upper body to the right atrium
Pulmonary Artery
Carries deoxygenated blood away from the right ventricle to the lungs
Pulmonary Valve
Opens for deoxygenated blood to flow from the right ventricle to the pulmonary arteries
Aorta
Carries oxygenated blood from the left ventricle to the body
Aortic Valve
Valce that opens for oxygenated blood to flow from the left ventricle to the aorta
Right Atrium
Chamber of the heart that recieves deoxygenated blood from the body
Right Ventricle
Chamber of the heart that pumps deoxygenated blood to the lungs
Left Atrium
Receives oxygenated blood from the lungs
Left Ventricle
Pumps oxygenated blood to the body
Tricuspid Valve
Opens for deoxygenated blood to flow from the right atrium to the right ventricle.
Septum
Separates the heart’s left and right chambers to keep oxygenated and deoxygenated blood seperate
Mitral Valve
Valve that opens for oxygenated blood to flow from the left atrium to the left ventricle
Inferior Vena Cava
Veins that delivers deoxygenated blood from the lower body to the right atrium
