- [being] smooth of rocks, and besides there was shelter from the wind.

ἐκ δ᾽ ἔπεσον θυμηγερέων, ἐπὶ δ᾽ ἀμβροσίη νὺξ
A
- [coming] out [of the sea] I fell down [on the shore], gathering my strength, and immortal night

ἤλυθ᾽. ἐγὼ δ᾽ ἀπάνευθε διιπετέος ποταμοῖο
A
- came on. And I, having gotten out of the river fallen from Zeus, [(which was swollen with rain from Zeus)]

ἐκβὰς ἐν θάμνοισι κατέδραθον, ἀμφὶ δὲ φύλλα
A
- fell asleep in the bushes, and leaves about me

ἠφυσάμην: ὕπνον δὲ θεὸς κατ᾽ ἀπείρονα χεῦεν.
A
- I heaped up: and a god shed over me infinite sleep.

‘ ἔνθα μὲν ἐν φύλλοισι φίλον τετιημένος ἦτορ
A
- There among the leaves, [though] troubled in respect of my dear heart,

εὗδον παννύχιος καὶ ἐπ᾽ ἠῶ καὶ μέσον ἦμαρ.
A
- I slept the whole night both up to morning and midday.

δείλετό τ᾽ ἠέλιος καί με γλυκὺς ὕπνος ἀνῆκεν.
A
- the sun was declining and sweet sleep released me.
