- even then indeed [i.e. that was when] she told me urging [me] to go

Ζηνὸς ὑπ᾽ ἀγγελίης, ἢ καὶ νόος ἐτράπετ᾽ αὐτῆς.
A
- either because of a message of Zeus, or even her own mind was turned.

πέμπε δ᾽ ἐπὶ σχεδίης πολυδέσμου, πολλὰ δ᾽ ἔδωκε,

- And she sent me on a raft with many fastenings, and she gave me many things

σῖτον καὶ μέθυ ἡδύ, καὶ ἄμβροτα εἵματα ἕσσεν,
A
- bread and sweet wine, and she clothed me in immortal clothes,

οὖρον δὲ προέηκεν ἀπήμονά τε λιαρόν τε.
A
- and she sent forth a fair wind, gentle and warm.

ἑπτὰ δὲ καὶ δέκα μὲν πλέον ἤματα ποντοπορεύων,

- And for seventeen days I was sailing, journeying by sea,

ὀκτωκαιδεκάτῃ δ᾽ ἐφάνη ὄρεα σκιόεντα
A
- and on the eighteenth appeared the shadowy mountains

γαίης ὑμετέρης, γήθησε δέ μοι φίλον ἦτορ

- of your land, and my dear heart was glad,
