Q

What are the minimum heights for VFR?

A

Pt91… not below 1000ft above congested town/area or assembly of people at radius of 600m. Not below 500ft at radius of 150m of highest obstacle.
However rule 91.311c does not apply, which allows descent below 500ft in bona fide cases.

Q

What are the IFR met conditions required?

A

PIC must not commence IFR, unless if combination of current met forecasts/reports or reports indicate:
-at ETA wx will be above the minima published in the AIP for the IA a likely to be used.
And at the estimated time of use:
-1 ALT AD meeting ceiling/vis req (+/- 1hr)… if this can’t be met
-2 ALT AD meeting ceiling/vis req (ALT AD)

Q

Do P121 ops always require an alternate?

A

Must not commence IFR unless there is at least 1 alternate that meets ALT AD minima if…

  • the dept/arr AD is outside of NZ
  • the destination has less than 2 useable RWY for the a/c

Q

What considerations are there for calculating T/O distance?

A

TOW does not exceed MCTOW.
When calculating MCTOW, assuming critical engine fails at Vef using a single V1, ensuring:
-ASDR does not exceed ASDA & TORR does not exceed TORA.
-Any clearway forming apart of TODA shall not exceed 1/2 TORA.
-TODR is calculated to point where a/c is 15ft above SFC using reduced V1 for wet/contaminated RWY
-On wet/contaminated RWY, TOW does not exceed what is permitted on a dry RWY under the same conditions
-Usual ele, PA, *c, sfc conditions/type, slope, wind

Q

What are the performance requirements for landing distance?

A

Estimated LDW not exceed MLW.
LDR is 50ft above threshold to full stop for dry RWY.
TF/TJ must full stop in 60% LDA, 70% for props.
And the usual performance factors (wind, elevation etc)

Q

What are the weights to be used to calculated the weight of the a/c?

A
Can be actual weight of baggage and PAX.
Can be a standard weight:
-Under 2=15kg
-2 through 13= 46kg
-13+ = 86kg
-Crew+bag= 86kg

Q

What number of flight attendants are required?

A

Either:

  • recommenced by manufacturer for evacuation procedure for the configuration used
  • as specified in the certified design criteria for the a/c
  • Seat capacity:
15-50:1
51-100:2
101-150:3
151-200:4
201-250:6
251-300:7
301-350:9
351-400:10
401-450:11
450-500:12
500+: 12 + 1 for every 50 PAX or part of
Must be at least 1 FA per occupied PAX compartment
17
Q

What additional rules are there for FA?

A

AO requiring 2 or more FA requires a senior FA responsible to the PIC for operational and safety functions of each FA.
AO requiring 6 or more FA requires a deputy senior FA.
May operate with one less FA from the table, due to illness or injury as long as the other requirements can be met and the FA are trained and competent to operate safely with one less FA.
