Pain Flashcards

1
Q

Can the body learn pain?

A

Specific neurons respond to painful stimuli.
When activated, they send a warning signal to the spinal cord and then to the brain (nociception)
Brain makes sense of the information and makes pain
Thoughts/worries/places can activate these warning signals and the pain feels exactly the same without painful stimuli
Spinal cord can also generate unnecessary warning signals
