A
Refers to back pain arising from discs, joints and soft tissues

ROM- flexion, extension, R/L side flexion
Tiptoe walking, heel walking, single leg dip

Treatment
A
Strengthen surrounding muscles- trunk, glutes, quads
Keeping active, use of heat/cold therapy, see GP for pain medication

Use of lumbar supports and back belts
A
Not recommended- negative effect on back pain beliefs

Vicious cycle of low back pain
A
Pain -> avoiding activities that cause pain -> brain learns specific movements cause pain which increases sensitization -> reduced activity -> less activity causes weakness -> muscles get weaker and tighter -> increases pain on movement
