Barlow’s test (looks for hips that are dislocatable)
Ortolani’s test (identifies hips which are) dislocated
Missing testicle - what should you do?
Check 6-8 weeks

Refer at 6/12
Chondromalacia patellae
Softening of the cartilage of the patella
Common in teenage girls
Characteristically anterior knee pain on walking up and down stairs and rising from prolonged sitting
Usually responds to physiotherapy
Osgood-Schlatter disease
tibial apophysitis
Seen in sporty teenagers
Pain, tenderness and swelling over the tibial tubercle
Patellar tendonitis
More common in athletic teenage boys
Chronic anterior knee pain that worsens after running
Tender below the patella on examination (at the tendon)
Osteochondritis dissecans
Pain after exercise
Intermittent swelling and locking
Small segment of bone begins to separate from its surrounding region due to a lack of blood supply
If still growing tends to heal, if old then surgery
