- do not eat or drink after toothbrushing at night except water
- demonstrate brushing annually
What dietary advice should be given to standard risk children and parents?
- annually
- limit consumption of food and drinks containing sugar
- drink only water or milk between meals
- snack on low sugar foods eg. fresh fruit, vegetables, breadsticks, oatcakes and small amounts of cheese
- no sugary drinks, juice, sweetened or soy milk in feeding bottles or pacifiers
What preventative care should be given to standard risk children?
- resin based sealant in pits/fissure of permanent molars as soon as they erupt
- glass ionomer can be used if child is uncooperative
- apply sodium fluoride varnish twice yearly
What is the concentration of fluoride in sodium fluoride varnish?
- 22,600ppm fluoride
- 5%
