type 1 fractures, the fracture line is entirely within the physis.
In type 2 fractures, the fracture line extends from the physis into the metaphysis. These are the commonest type of physeal fracture, accounting for 80%.
In type 3, the fracture enters the epiphysis from the physis.
type 4, the fracture extends across the physis from the articular surface and epiphysis to end in the margin of the metaphysis.
Type 5 fractures are crush injuries of the physis.
