face/scalp/extension in toddlers, and flexures in children-
Aetiology and risk factors of paediatric eczema
Complex genetic and environmental factors-usually issues with skin barrier causing extra pathogens
and its an immune HYPERresponse
Risk factors:
FHx-a lot of allergies-eczema/ashtma/food allergy
Management of Paediatric eczema
Antihistamine, moisturiser (regular emollients), intermittent topical steroids
complications-abx, antibiotics, phototherapy, oral steroids
systemic immunosuppression –methotrexate etc
even biologics
what is paediatric seborrheic dermatitis
Eczema, distributed in sebborreic rich areas-on the scalp, eyebrows-anywhere with hair
called-cradle cap
pink and golden crusts patches
NOT itchy
can also still affect flexures
most babies grow out of it
treat with emollient, and oil to remove golden plaques
