Q

What is the range?
Is it useful?

A

The distance between the smallest and largest values.
No- it doesn’t tell us how spread out the data is- gives us limited information.

Q

what is the interquartile range & is it useful?

A

Take data- divide it into quarters.

More useful than the range- gives sense of how close stuff is to the center of the data.

You can have data sets that are different but have the same interquartile range.

Useful if expect data to be normally distributed- but not useful overall as ignores lots of information.
