Q

What is the mode?

What is the easiest way to find it?

A

The most frequent value in a set of measurements.

Draw a plot and look for the tallest bar.

Q

What levels of measurement is the mode used for?

A

Nominal & categorical

It is NOT informative for continuous variables- such as height (as everyone is a unique height- so there wouldn’t be a common number)

What is the median?

A

Middle value- half the numbers in the data are above & half below.

Q

What are the advantages the mean compared to the median?

A

Mean- easier to work out mathematically.

Means taken from different samples of the same population tend to be more similar to each other.

Q

What are the disadvantages of the mean compared to the median?
