They orbit in an elliptical shape

what is the concept of red shift?
as the space between earth and other galaxies expand , the light waves get stretched out during the journey to us . this shifts to the red end of the spectrum . the more red shifted the light from a galaxy, the faster its moving away
What is the big bang theory ?
This suggests the whole universe and its matter started from a single , ting point of energy billions of years ago . the universe expanded from this point and has been expanding ever since . gravity causes matter to clump together to form stars .
What is the steady state theory ?
This theory states that the universe has always existed and is expanding . New matter is constantly made within the universe as it expands .

Originally the geocentric model was believed
but when gall Elio saw that Jupiter was being orbited instead of earth
theory changed to the heliocentric model
