P1.3.4 - Liquid Pressure Flashcards
What is liquid pressure?
Pressure that is exerted by different liquids
What happens to liquid pressure as you go deeper?
It increases
How can you show that liquid pressure increases with depth?
Cut a hole in the bottom and top of a bottle, the water in the bottom will travel further horizontally as it is under more pressure
Why does liquid pressure increase as you go deeper?
The molecules in any layer of the liquid are being compressed and pushed from above you
What is the calculation for liquid pressure?
Pressure = column height * liquid density * gravitational field strength
How can you calculate the difference between pressure at different depths?
Measure the pressure at both depths and find the difference
