P1.2.1 - Density Flashcards
What does density tell you?
How much mass there is in a certain volume
Can 2 different sized blocks have the same density?
Only if they are made out of the same material
What is the equation for density?
Density(kg/m3) = Mass(kg) / Volume(m3)
Use particle theory to explain density differences.
In 1cm3 of solid, there may be more particles as they are in a regular formation compared to a liquid, meaning that solid will have a higher mass but same volume
What is the law of Conservation of Mass?
Mass is neither created or destroyed by chemical reactions / physical transformations
Why does density also rely on the mass of particles?
Some particles of some substances have a higher mass compared to particles of other substances.
