what are the relations of the uterus?
anterior: vesicouterine pouch
posterior: rectouterine pouch
laterally: broad ligament, uterine artery, vein
REMEMBER: in front is bladder, vagina, rectum
what arteries supply the uterus?
abdominal aorta –> common iliac artery –> internal iliac artery –> uterine artery
there is also anastomoses with the ovarian artery
where does the ovarian artery come from?
comes from the abdominal aorta at the L2 level
where arteries supply the fallopian tube?
uterine and ovarian artery
what arteries supply the ovary?
ovarian artery
what veins drain the uterus?
internal iliac vein
where does the parasympathetic innervation of the uterus originate from and pass through?
origin: S2-S4
pass through: pelvic splanchnic nerve to inferior hypogastric plexus
