6 eye signs of thyroid eye disease
- visibility of sclera at bottom eyelid
- lid retraction
- lid lag –> eyelid does not move with eyeball
- opthalmoplegia –> eyeball movements are affected
- proptosis –> eyeball is visible from the top or side of the head
- chemosis –> sclera is red becuase of hypervascular process
how are the eyes linked to the thyroid?
paraoptical fibroblast expres TSH
= activating antibodies from graves result in proliferation of fibroblasts
= activation of adipocytes
