What is another name for Border disease?
Hairy Shaker disease
What reproductive signs do you see with Border disease?
- abortion
- mummification
- fetal resorption
- decreases pregnancy –> outbreaks of poor fertility
What is a classic finding with Border disease?
underweight lamb with muscle tremors and hairy fleece
-undersized at birth
What are pathological findings seen with Border disease?
- cerebral cavitations
- glial cell hyperplasia
- demyelination of CNS white matter
Dams and antibody titers
- infected dams have high antibody titers
1. high levels=subsequent immunity
2. low levels=possible persistent infection
What is a common treatment for urinary calculi?
- urinary acidifiers
- lots of water and appropriate Ca:P
What clinical signs do we see with copper toxicity?
- acute hemolytic anemia
- hemoglobinuria
- depression
- icterus
When do sheep reach puberty?
5-7 months

- lameness
- wt loss in lambs; +/- gangrenous mastitis in ewes
Do you vaccinate for orf?
If not present on farm, yes (MLV) but not if it is already present on the farm (isolate and cull)
etiological agent for contagious mastitis in ruminants
Mycoplasma agalactiae
-interstital mastitis and atrophy/fibrosis; hot udder

tx: cull or segregate
