Q

What is good leadership

A

Leaders help create the environment in which everyone can thrive. People should feel safe at work and able to give their best every day.

We want people to bring their real selves to work - they need to feel safe to be themselves in a work environment. Leadership is not about leading some while others get left behind - it’s about fostering an environment that brings out everyone’s best and in a way that they feel valued.

Q

To be successful what do we need to consider culturally

A

We need a culture based on collective values which we reflect in our actions and decisions. Bringing humanity to every interaction means we recognise that no one is perfect and that we make mistakes.

Q

What does our deployment model do

A

Provides a national framework to enable decision makers to deploy resources to the local environment using a consistent approach.

We focus on the crime triangle

  1. Act with urgency against repeat and priority offenders
  2. Provide support and assistance to those repeatedly victimised
  3. Maximise resources to locations that repeatedly suffer disproportionate levels of crime
17
Q

What does evidence based deployment mean

A

We use tactics that have been proven to work and we evaluate the results of our interventions to determine whether we achieved the desired outcome or need to refocus our efforts.

Then we need to measure monitor and evaluate the quality of our deployment to ensure we deliver the outcomes we seek

18
Q

What are the 6 drivers of demand

A
  1. Family
  2. Alcohol
  3. Youth
  4. Mental health
  5. Organised crime and drugs
  6. Roads
19
Q

How do we achieve success in measuring the drivers of demand

A

We must understand and address underlying drivers of demand to achieve sustainable results by drawing on good research and intelligence to better understand their role in crime and victimisation

20
Q

What must we do to support whanau

A

Continue lifting the veil of secrecy around family harm and child abuse in order to stop it and exposing familial organised crime groups to prevent intergenerational cycles of harm

21
Q

What do we need to understand about youth

A

They often come from backgrounds of severe deprivation involving violence alcohol drugs and the absence of good role models.

Evidence strongly supports a trauma informed approach to vulnerable rangatahi that allows their voice to be heard in the decisions that affect them.

22
Q

How will we take every opportunity to prevent harm

A
  1. Demonstrate our organisational values and code of conduct in every interaction
  2. Provide a proactive and consistent service to victims and offenders by always using the risk assessment process for dealing with offenders and victims
  3. Build relationships of trust to improve information sharing with partner agencies and communities that engage with victims and offenders
  4. Focus on victims needs in order to respond quickly and considerately to victims
  5. Create useful VIP and increase the proportion of VIPS completed in each area
  6. Always use the agreed offender management approach
  7. Make sure every member of the team knows how their work contributes to our organisational goals through PHPF
23
