What is the first line medication for trigeminal neuralgia?
Carbamazepine
What is the medical mx of BPH?
Dual approach:
Improve flow- quick response using alpha1 blockers (tamsulosin, doxazosin)
Shrink the prostate- takes 6 months
5 alpha reductase inhibitors e.g. finasteride, dunasteride
What is the mx of unstable angina?
RF- aspirin/clopi and statin
Assess for revascularisation
Can sometimes use occasional sublingual GTN
Beta-blockers or CCB if CI- both CI in LV dysfunction
Add long acting nitrate
Can add dihydropyridine
Consider nicorandil, ivabradine, ranolazine
What is the mx post-MI?
ACEI/ARB B-blockers Statins Aspirin (clopi) Possibly- omega 3 FAs Cardiac rehabilitation
mx IBS?
Symptom control:
Constipation- laxatives (movicol), linaclotide
Diarrhoea- loperamide, antispasmodics (mebeverine, hyoscine)
Abdo pain- low dose TCA, SSRIs, peppermint oil capsules
