Strong enzyme inducer- affects other AED and OCP.
Reduced bone density
Auto induction

Strong enzyme inducer- affects other AED and OCP.
Susceptible to other inducers
Reduced bone density
What drug interactions does gabapentin have?
None significant
What drug interactions does levetiracetam have?
None significant
What drug interactions does pregabalin have?
None significant
What are the rules for driving a car or motorcycle when epileptic?
1 year since last seizure before license allowed.
Not allowed during and for 6 months after medication has been changed
Once compliant with treatment driving allowed
What are the rules for driving an HGV, bus or large vehicle when epileptic?
No seizures for 10 years before licence granted
What anticonvulsants are safe in pregnancy?
Lamotrigine apparently safe
Folate supplementation essential
What AED should be absolutely avoided in pregnancy?
Sodium valproate
