A
infectious organism that causes tissue inflammation, edema and decreased blood flow to the bone, resulting in bone necrosis

- recent trauma (open fracture)
- bacteremia (bacteria in bloodstream)
- orthopedic surgery
- circulatory disorders (diabetes)

A
- bone pain
- erythema
- edem
- fever
- increased WBC

Treatment for Osteomyelitis
A
- long term antibiotic therapy
- surgery debridement of the bone
- hyperbaric oxygen therapy
