A

infectious organism that causes tissue inflammation, edema and decreased blood flow to the bone, resulting in bone necrosis

  • recent trauma (open fracture)
  • bacteremia (bacteria in bloodstream)
  • orthopedic surgery
  • circulatory disorders (diabetes)
