  • administer epoetin alfa or advise pt to provide autologous blood to prevent post-op anemia
  • advise pt to shower w/ antiseptic soap before surgery

  • monitor for S/S of thromboembolism (DVT, PE)

- monitor for infection, bleeding, neruovascular compromise
