Anterior Superior Iliac Spine (ASIS)
- attachment of inguinal ligament
- McBurney’s point: 1/3 distance from ASIS to umbilicus = base of appendix, tenderness = appendicitis
Pubic Symphysis
- cartilaginous joint b/w superior pubic rami
- anterior to bladder
- attachment for suspensory lig. of penis
Iliac Crest
Iliac Tubercle
- prominence on the external lip of the iliac crest, 5 cm posterior to ASIS
- marks the widest point of the iliac crest
- imaginary line connecting the left and right iliac tubercles forms the transtubercular plane, level of L5 vertebra
- origin for the iliotibial tract/IT band
