What are the areas of fractures on the elbow?
Supracondylar (extrascapular)
Transcondylar (intrascapular)

What is the most common elbow fracture injury in children?
Supracondylar (fall on out stretched hand)
What special test is used for elbow acute fractures?
Elbow extension test (positive if they cannot fully extend and lock elbow)
What is the most common elbow fracture injury in adults?
Fracture of radial head
What is a terrible triad injury to the elbow?
Radial head fracture
Grade 3 medial collateral ligament sprain with dislocation
Coronoid process fracture
How is the terrible triad injury of the elbow managed?
Surgery
What is a night stick fracture?
Fracture of the mid portion of ulna (blocking something from hitting you)
What is a monteggia fracture?
Fracture of proximal ulna along with dislocation of radial head
What does a monteggia fracture often damage?
Posterior branch of radial nerve
What is a galeazzi fracture?
Fracture of distal radius along with dislocation of ulnar head
What is a green stick fracture?
Incomplete fracture in flexible/young bones
What is the mechanism of injury for bursitis?
Fall on to elbow
What is the mechanism of injury for a bicep rupture?
Rapid load eccentric force at 90° of flexion (often a pre existing tendonopathy)
What is the special test for a bicep rupture?
Bicep squeeze test (positive test if no supination occurs with squeeze)
What are characteristics of acute compartment syndrome?
Following fracture
Constrictive
Dressings, casts
Blunt trauma
