- USSR blockades city of Berlin - no one allowed in
- US flies over blockade for 327 days and drops supplies to Berlin
- after 327 days, USSR relents and allows allies into berlin
- the cold war is officially “on”
- the soviets told the US they were going to take over berlin and the us said no
