Q

What’s the location, structure and function of
THE ILEUM

A

Coiled part of small intestine, joins duodenum
Non-striated muscle and columnar epithelium

Q

What’s the location, structure and function of
THE COLON

A

Joins ileum in right hand side of abdomen, goes up to the liver, in front of the stomach and back down the left to join the rectum
Non striated muscle
Absorbs water and produces semi-solid poo (faeces)

Q

What’s the location, structure and function of
THE UTERUS

A

Centrally in the pelvis, connected to the ovaries by fallopian tubes
Non striated muscle lined by special epithelium
Supports and protects foetus until birth, contracts powerfully to give birth to baby and placenta
Creates new epithelial every month
