“No person in the US shall, on the basis of sex, be excluded from participation in, be denied the benefits of, or be subjected to discrimination under any education program or activity receiving Federal financial assistance” (because all public school receive some federal funds, this applies to all public schools).

Although the most well-known application of Title IX regards athletics, there are other protections the law specifically delineates.

Answer 2

Transgender students and students who do not conform to sex stereotypes are protected from discrimination. Section 106.40 protects pregnant and parenting students from discrimination based on pregnant status, marital status, or parenthood. (Cannot force a student who is pregnant to attend a special school.)
