PO duties…

1- determine that physical force is reasonable and necessary to control person
note do not use against. …person appears to be under 12 yrs old., elderly and frail, known to have asthma ,heart disease , emphysema.
2- use OC spray , 3-12 ft optimal, spray in face.
3-restrain person.
4-discontinue if not working.
5-initiate arrest
6-initiate aided procedure if …used less than 3 ft away, berthing difficulties, wearing contact lenses.
7-decon expod person with water. note transport person in vehicle that won’t attribute to breathing difficulty.
8- initiate aided procedure if after decon…. Pain worsens,unusual discomfort.
9- assess need to decon area after use…..with water and air dry for 15 min or wash with soap and water. Decon dept. property, advise owner to decon private property.

REPORTING

1- prepare PDCN 377, submit to immediate supervisor before end of tour.

REPLACEMENT

1- replacement done by FTU if canister leaking or fails to function properly.

OC has no vapor rate, will not evaporate

OC may also be effective against animals

PO will seek immediate medical help for persons who experience

• exposure to OC less than 3 feet away.
• severe breathing difficulties
• wearing contact lenses.

PO will observe persons for 30 min after OC spray use.
