1) receive all info from DO
2) determines person to be notified is home
- -verifies persons ID
- -completes notification
- -secures friends, neighbors, clergy
- -remain w person until emotionally/ physically capable or competent person arrives
- -notifies DO of completed notification
- -reports disposition
3) determines person is not home
- -inquires w neighbors about his expected return or location
- -notifies DO of the results of inquiry

1) receive request via phone or NYSPIN
2) verify ID of caller or ensure desk personnel reply via NYSPIN
3) verify person to be notified resides in Nassau
4) obtain all info on deceased(name, address, circumstances of death) and all name and address of agency requesting
5) assign 2 members to notify (2 detectives if active NCPD invest involving felony or susp death)
6) determines notification cannot be made and person is away for an extended period at a known location
- -notifies requesting agency -OR-
- - if request originated from DO’s pct then contact PD having jurisdiction over persons location and request notification
7) determines need for delayed notification bc person is away for short/unknown time period
- –contact req agency to ascertain if future attempts are necessary
- –consider directing POs to make future attempts
8) contacts req agency w results of completed notification
9) briefs DO of next tour if future requests necessary
10) ensures entries made into dept records detailing actions taken
