Operating Limitations Flashcards
Maximum Altitude
41,000’ MSL
Icing
- Prolonged flight in icing conditions shall be avoided 2. When Airframe icing is visible, intentional stalls or use of full flaps is prohibited.
Operating Limits
Know the table
GTS Limitations
- GTS start with external power is prohibited
- Minimum interval between each GTS start is 3 minutes. After 3 you must wait 30 minutes
- Additional GTS start attempts after an unsuccesful GTS start attempt are prohibited until GTS exhaust duct and combustor section are inspected and any residual fuel is removed
NOTE:
*GTS starts not reliable at altitudes above 15,000’
*3 min wait does not apply in emergencies
Arresting Hook max extension max speed
450 KIAS
Tires max speed on deck
- 176 Knots GS
Nose Wheel Steering max speed on deck
176 KIAS
Sideslip Limitations
Limit sideslip when gear in transit when above 150 Knots
Roll Limitations for all configurations/store loadings
For all configurations/store loadings:
- Do no use large lateral inputs at less than 8 units AOA
Roll limitation cruise configuration 0 to 260 KIAS
- -1g to 1.25g - Max bank angle change is 360*
- 1.25g to 4g Max bank angle change is 180* or 360* if limited to half lateral stick and half rudder pedal inputs
- From 4g to g limit - Max bank angle change is 180*
Roll limitations for airspeeds greater than 260 KIAS to 0.8 Mach
- From -0.2g to 1.25g - Maximum bank angle change is 360*
- From 1.25g to g limit - Maximum bank angle change is 180*
Roll limitations Gear and/or flaps/slats down:
Maximum bank angle is 90*
Takeoff/Landing Limitations Max 90* CW component (NWS AUG operational/failed)

- Single Aircraft (wet runway): 15 Knots
- Section Takeoff: 10 Knots
- Banner Tow: 10 Knots
- NWSOff/Failed: 15 Knots
Takeoff/Landing Limitations when shall high gain NWS shall be used
Less than 10 Knots GS
FCLP landings are authorized only with the following configurations
- Clean loading and full flaps
- Pylons alone or pylons with empty PMBRs/BRu-38A, and full flaps
Prohibited Maneuvers
- Intentional spins or tailslides
- Rolling cross-control maneuvers of more than 60 degree bank angle change
- Intentional departures except for
- Erect rolling departure entered with full aft stick/full lateral stick
- Erect rudder-induced departure entered with full aft stick/full rudder
- Nose high departures (70 - 110)
- Sustained zero or negative g flight for more than 30 seconds
- Less than 30 seconds between negative g or zero g maneuvers
- Rolls at less than:
- Negative 1g at less than 260 KIAS

- Lateral/directional inputs below 3 units AOA
- Intentional departures with greater than 1,000 foot-pounds asymmetry
- Operations with EMER FLAPS selected, when normal HYD 1 power is available, is restricted to 30 seconds with engine rpm less than or equal to 90 percent. Except in an actual emergency, use of EMER FLAPS is restricted to FCF profiles
- Intentional accelerated stalls with landing gear extended while carrying stores
