MMT: Deltoids

A

Sitting.

Arm abducted to 90°, flexed at elbow (lat raise position).

For middle fibres push straight down.

Anterior fibres: position arm forward and slightly external rotated. Force applied against anteromedial surface, to adduction and slight extension

Posterior fibres: position arm in slight extension, and medial rotation. Force applied against posteriolateral arm; to adduction and slight flexion.

A

Anterior fibres originate at clavicle
Middle fibres originate at acromion process
Posterior fibres originate at spine of scapula.

All insert at deltoid tuberosity.

Actions: all abduct
Anterior fibres: flex, IR (when supine)
Posterior fibres: extend, ER (when prone)

Insertion: greater tubercle.

A

A

Origin: anterolateral surface of (and IVDs between) T12-L5. TVPs of L1-5.

Insertion: lesser trochanter.

Action: hip flexion; PPT; lateral rotation of thing

Leg lifted, slight abduction and ER. Opposite iliac crest stabilized.
