Pharmacology & Actions

A
  • Selectively blocks serotonin 5-HT3 receptors in the brain
  • Primary effect is in the GI tract
  • No effect on dopamine receptors, therefor does not cause extrapyramidal symptoms (drug induced movement disorder)

May cause prolonged QT, do not use with patients who have prolonged QT syndrome
