pemphigus and pruritus
what are some haematological paraneoplastic syndromes?
anaemia, polyctaemia, granulocytosis
what are some endocrine/metabolic paraneoplastic syndromes?
cachexia, hypercalcaemia, hypertrophic osteopathy
what are the three types of treatment for cancer?
ablation (surgery, laser…)
cytotoxic (chemo, radiotherapy…)
biological (vaccine, immunotherapy…)
what are the four main forms of lymphoma?
mutlicentric
alimentary
mediastinal/thoracic/thymic
cutaneous
what age do horses get multicentric lymphoma?
4-12 years old
what are the clinical signs of multicentric lymphoma?
very vague depending on where lesions are (weight loss, depression, fever, oedema…)
how is multicentric lymphoma diagnosed?
cytology and biopsy
what age do horses present with alimentary lymphoma?
> 12 years old
what are the clinical signs of alimentary lymphoma?
weight loss, colic, malabsorption
how are alimentary lymphomas diagnosed?
biopsy or cytology of peritoneal fluid (peritoneal fluid not very accurate)
which type of lymphoma has the worst prognosis?
thoracic/mediastinal has hopeless prognosis (other can be treated depending on stage)
