Define Ombudsman.
If an employee cannot resolve a complaint with an organisation like a government body or bank, they can complain to the relevant ombudsman. This is free of charge.
Consumers must have used the complaints process beforehand.

FSPO
The Financial Services and Pensions Ombudsman. Deals with financial providers, and pension providers.
Solves complaints through mediation, and tries to find a mutually acceptable solution.
They can make a legally binding decision on the case
They may also award compensation
The Office of the Ombudsman
Investigates complaints by members of the public body that believe they have been treated unfairly by a government body (HSE, Government departments, Local authorities)
May request files, or demand to meet employees of the government body.
They then issue a recommendation on how it should be fixed.
