What is the Occupational Performance Model?
- OTs are concerned with the occupational nature of humans.
- It recognizes that a person’s ability to identify, select and perform roles, routines, tasks and sub-tasks to the satisfaction of self and/or others is essential to health.
Occupational dimension to humans can be challenged by:
- Disease or disability
- Environment
The ability to perceive, desire, recall, plan and carry out roles, routines, tasks for the purpose of self-maintenance, productivity, leisure, and rest in response to demands of the internal and/or external environment.
Occupational Performance
Patterns of occupational behavior composed of configurations of self-maintenance, productivity, leisure, and rest occupations. These are determined by individual person-environment-performance relationships and are established through need and/or choice, and are modified with age, ability, experience, circumstance, and time.
Occupational Performance Roles
Categories of routines, tasks, and sub-tasks performed by people to fulfill the requirements of Occupational performance roles.
- Productivity
- Leisure
- Self Care/Maintenance
- Rest
Occupational Performance Areas
