Successful Students

Struggling Students
remain dependent, codependent, or independent relation to other. work alone, seldom cooperating with others for the common good of all.
Listen poorly, demonstrating little desire to understand another person’s perspective.
Dependent People
I can’t achieve my goals by myself. I need other people to do most of the work for me.
Co-Dependent People
I’ll pursue my goals as soon as I’ve helped others get their goals.
Independent People
By working hard, I can get some of what I want all by myself. I’ll just do without the rest.
Interdependent People
I know I can get some of what I want by working alone, but I’ll accomplish more and have more fun if I give and receive help.

- Choose only Creators
- Choose Group Goals
- Choose Group Roles
Active Listening
- Listen to understand
- Clear your mind and remain silent
- Ask the person to expand or clarify
- Reflect the other person’s thought.
Three Kinds of Communicators
Placator: Dominated by their Inner Critic
Blamer: Dominated by their Inner Defender
Leveler: Piloted by their Inner Guide
Blamers
- Not taking Personal responsibility
- Inner defender
Mentor
someone further in his or her career development who is willing to assist newer employees
Leveling
- Communicate Purposefully.
- Communicate Honestly.
- Communicate Respectfully.
Making Requests
A demonstration of both assertiveness and high self-esteem.
Developing Mutually
Moving from dependence or codependence to independence.
Saying No
A tool of the assertive creator.
